Join Our Team: Forestry Majors and Forestry Degrees

Our clients need to trust you to advise them on how to best manage their forests for timber production, wildlife habitat, water quality, soil protection, diversity and recreation. Timber buyers need you to be fair and ethical when selling them high quality timber.  Earning the trust of both groups is a process by which you will become a local expert on forest management in your community. To work for us, you need to be committed to becoming that ethical, expert advocate for your client and improving every forest you work in. A big job perk is going to work everyday in beautiful places most people never get to see, and protecting their future with good management. We will support you with training in all aspects of forest management, not just marketing timber. We will help you get and maintain your Certified Forester credential, Association of Consulting Foresters membership, Pesticide Applicator License and become a Technical Service Provider with the NRCS. We will connect you with the farm managers, government agencies, industry professionals that will help you build a rewarding career. We will push you to become a leader in the field and support forestry events in your community.

You will need soft skills to collaborate with all kinds of landowners, government agencies, timber buyers, loggers and others. You will need to develop hard skills in the field, like how to scale and market timber, treat invasive plants, survey forests, plant trees, perform timber stand improvement; all while using a mix of old and new technology in remote terrain. You will eventually need to think and act like a small business owner with a reputation and a bottom line to protect, as you advance and become an independent consultant with your own clients. To become confident in all these areas takes years, it's a process and we're here to help you get there. Part of what makes Rooted IN Forestry unique is the teamwork and support system of having multiple foresters working together, especially on larger projects with a broad range of tools and equipment. Also, we are not a huge corporation... our greatest asset will always be our people and we will treat you as such.

We want to manage forests and serve our clients to the best of our abilities.  We also want our clients to be confident that our services will be available for decades to come.  In order to do so, we need to be training and helping to build the careers of new consulting foresters in our area. Maybe you've been a forester for years in another role but are looking for a change. Northern Indiana needs more good foresters, join us and build a new career!
